Formula 1 racer Liam Lawson revealed he narrowly avoided a potentially fatal collision during Sunday's F1 event in Mexico when two marshals darted across the track immediately ahead of his car
The concerning event occurred on the third lap when marshals were seen on the circuit as Lawson was returning to the race following an quick visit to the pits to replace his compromised front wing

Shortly afterward, the Formula 1 racer Lawson radioed to his race engineer saying: "You've got to be joking? Did you just see that? I nearly... ended their lives"
"I genuinely couldn't process what I was seeing"
"I rejoined with a fresh hard compound tires, and then I approached Turn One and there were just two individuals dashing across the track"
"I came close to striking one of them, truthfully, it was incredibly risky"
Track Safety Questioned
"Obviously there's been a miscommunication at some point but I've never encountered that before, and I haven't previously witnessed that in the past. It's absolutely inexcusable"

"Following a turn one incident, track officials was advised that wreckage remained on the track at the turning point of that curve" declared the regulatory authority
"On lap three, track officials were informed and placed on standby to go onto the racing surface and remove the wreckage once all cars had passed"
