Palestinian-American Teenager Liberated Following 270 Days in Israel's Custody

An American-Palestinian youth having endured 270 days in Israeli detention without charge gained freedom.
Mohammed Ibrahim was fifteen years old when he was arrested this past winter throughout the West Bank territory, while he was vacationing on holiday from Florida under suspicion of rock throwing at Jewish settlers, allegations he repeatedly contested.
The US state department applauded the news of Mohammed's release.
Now sixteen years old, required hospitalization for treatment immediately after release, relatives told the media.
According to them, he appears visibly pale and thin, and is suffering from conditions contracted in captivity.
Via family representatives, family spokesperson conveyed their "overwhelming sense of relief".
Family member Zeyad Kadur said the family had been "surviving a terrible, unending nightmare" during the entire detention period.
"At this moment, we're concentrating on ensuring Mohammed receives the immediate medical attention he requires after being subjected to mistreatment by authorities and inhumane conditions over several months."
American authorities said it would continue to offer diplomatic assistance for the Ibrahim family.
{"The Trump Administration has no higher priority than the safety and security for United States citizens"," it added.
A group of American legislators had signed a letter to diplomatic officials and President Donald Trump, demanding more be done to release him.
Mr Ibrahim, a father-of-four who runs an ice cream business in Florida, had earlier stated Mohammed acknowledged allegations to throwing stones due to physical abuse.
There were no visits nor direct contact since the arrest, learning information solely regarding the treatment through judicial records.
He stayed lacking indictment in Ofer prison throughout the occupied territory.
Additionally housing grown detainees, including individuals found guilty regarding severe security violations and murder.
Approximately several hundred young Palestinian detainees currently imprisoned in Israel, based on prison authority data.
Several lack formal charges along with monitoring agencies, as well as the United Nations, document cases involving abuse and torture.
Following Mohammed's release, family representatives announced the family would also continue fighting for justice for his cousin Sayfollah Musallet.
The 20-year-old dual US citizen per medical officials was beaten to death by radical settlers following tensions in July.
Initially, military authorities reported officials were investigating reports a Palestinian civilian was deceased.
The two cousins had worked together at their family's ice cream business from Tampa.
No indictments occurred with Sayfollah's killing.
"We expect United States leadership to safeguard our relatives," Mr Kadur said.
