The Madrid giants forward Vinicius Jr has apologised to the fanbase for his conduct when taken off in the recent fiery El Clasico victory.

Vinicius was substituted in the 72nd minute and expressed his disappointment by heading directly off the pitch.

He eventually reappeared to the sidelines and, after his team's narrow triumph, tried to confront the opposition's opposing player during contentious after the game scenes.

"Today I want to express regret to all the Madridistas for my behavior when I was taken off in the Clasico," Vinicius shared on his account.

"In the same way as I have previously expressed during this morning's training, I wish to say sorry once more to my teammates, the organization, and the president.

"At times emotion takes over me because I always want to triumph and assist my team. My competitive character comes from the affection I hold for this team and all it stands for."

The player moved to the Spanish capital from Flamengo in 2018 for £38.7m and has scored over a century of strikes in 335 appearances.

But his future in the La Liga is unclear with speculation in the past few months suggesting that Los Blancos would contemplate allowing the 25-year-old depart if they obtained a appropriate bid.

When Vinicius was replaced on that day, cameras from network the service recorded him stating: "Again me! I'm exiting the club! It's wiser if I go, I'm leaving."
